There are 22 notification events defined, each generating a specific message to interested users. The notification events are split into 2 classes: 10 action events monitor changes to an action’s overall status, and 12 approval events monitor changes to a group’s approval for an action. Each of these events can initiate messages for up to 15 different classes of users, based on each class’s role in the process. For example, all authorized signers for a group can be notified when the preceding group has approved an action, or all CM group members can be notified when an action is ready for checking. The addressee list for an event-initiated message can be modified according to administrator-defined rules.
The internal message system has full email capabilities, including send, receive, in-box, return receipt request, "new message" notification and user-defined polling intervals. Events and emails can be disabled globally by the system administrator.
