Configuration & Data Management System
|
Security
Acseni uses role-based
security to control access to document records and library files.
Although a virtually unlimited number of user records may be
maintained, the system accepts a maximum of 250 simultaneous
security accounts. There are three principal security roles:
- Guests may view
records and, if permitted, print reports;
- Normal users have
general capabilities to add new records, create change
actions, and perform other permitted actions; and
- Administrators manage
the system security model, creating new user security
accounts.
Sets of over-lapping roles provide
greater control over record modification and document approvals:
- Group signers are
users who have been assigned special permission to
approve a change action on behalf of their group. Users
can be authorized group signers for more than one group,
and groups can have more than one group signer.
- Any user who creates a new
document master or variation record is that records
owner. Normal users are prevented from modifying
or deleting a record that is owned by someone else. An
owner of a library file can limit other users
ability to view, copy, and modify the checked-in file; at
the owners option, guests can have view and copy
permissions.
- Members of the configuration
management group ("CM group") have all
rights of ownership for all document records, and can
change a records ownership.
- CM group signers have
the unique responsibility of submitting engineering
change actions for other groups approvals. In
addition, a system option permits CM group signers wide
latitude in compensating for normal clerical errors.
Of course, a documents
release status further constrains users ability to add,
modify, or delete related records.
Acseni supports
user-managed passwords; system administrators can clear a
users password if forgotten, but cannot examine it.
